Thanksgiving Ephemera

I thought I'd show you some of my old postcards. I started collecting them only about a year ago. These three are my favorite Thanksgiving cards. They are just so sweet and funny. I love the old messages on the backs and trying to see what year they were postmarked. They are such fun and inexpensive things to collect.

I've made the turkey brine and it's cooling now. Tomorrow morning we'll start the process of brining Mr. Tom. I'm serving 16 on Thursday and I am so excited. Everyone is bringing most of the food this year so it is going to be pretty easy. I'm just making the Turkey, potatoes and gravy and some dinner rolls from scratch. The girls and I make those together. Nothing better than the smell of bread in the oven and the taste of it hot out of the oven. I should make them more often.

I wish there was a Thanksgiving season.  It just comes and goes way too quickly.  It is such a relaxing, soul nuturing holiday.  There is no pressure behind Thanksgiving.  No gifts to buy.  Just show up and eat what you like.  It's like Christmas SHOULD be.  As for what I think about this whole Black Friday business, it might be fun to try once, but I think it's safe to say I'll be at home with the family, snuggled in bed Friday morning.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Jem, I love your postcards. I agree about Thanksgiving, we just seem to rush through it and head full steam in to the Christmas "madness". I too, will be found in bed Friday morning and hey I just might sleep in! Enjoy the day, hugs Julie.

I love finding the pictures of the vintage postcards and putting them on my blog but to own and collect the real deal is just so fun!!! The ones you have here are so cute and to have a message or postage on the back is like the cherry on top!

I am so impressed that you brine your turkey. My mouth is watering I bet it is so delicious.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Your vintage postcards are fun! Poor fellow getting nipped in the hind end.
It is so nice that everyone else is bringing this side dishes for you!
I love Thanksgiving because it is all about family getting together. In counting our blessings, we like to think of the ways we can share them with others. More days need to be like that.
Wishing you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving.

I really love the last card! Funny :) As an Australian I don't really get Thanksgiving but I do like the idea of a present/stress free celebration! and the food sure sounds good. I hope you have heaps of fun on Thursday and get to relax too xo
