Some things you should know {a.k.a. Things I Need to Get Off My Chest}:
1. We bought a horse this week. I am excited. I am scared. I didn't realize how large these animals are in relation to my children.
2. I am craving cantaloupe from our garden. Will it ever ripen?
3. One of the only flowers still blooming in my garden is Rudbeckia, or Black Eyed Susan.
4. Turkey Chick was murdered in cold blood by my least favorite cat the night before we left on vacation.
5. My favorite kitten is terrified of people and I'm sick of trying to tame it.
6. I was stung by a bumble bee July 7th and you can still see the larger than half dollar spot on my arm that the sting became.
7. I hate the heat. I've never been a summer person and it's just laughing in my face this summer. I don't have the figure for "summer attire", sweat profusely and feel light headed and nauseous in the heat. I am so over summer.
8. I'm not ready for school to start in 3 weeks. In order for summer to be over...school has to start.
9. My girls are both making cookies for the fair this year and have been practicing and the last thing I need to eat is another cookie.
10. Their cookies are very good and it is all I want to eat.

I'm totally with you on this whole summer thing. No rain + temps in the 100s = A very sweaty and slightly nauseous me. I live in constant fear that our air conditioner will give out. I want fall, but like you, I don't want all of the "stuff" that fall brings. So basically, I'm with ya, sister! : ) Tricia
Oh Jemm, I'm so with you on the heat of summer thing. Add to that power surges (aka hot flashes) and you have me. Yup, ready for some cooler weather now!!!
I know nothing about horses, but my best friend and my step mother-in-law both ADORE them, so I figure they must be pretty wonderful.
I'm sorry about your little turkey chic. I'm sorry you got stung. I'm sorry your barn kitten can't be tamed.
But, I LOVE cookies and cantaloupe and rudbekia, so maybe I will just come over and help you taste test, and pick the last few remaining flowers from your garden. ;-)
I'm even having trouble keeping my zinnias and herbs going (they normally love sun!) because it's so dog-gone stinkin' hot outside!
no need for apologies ~ it's been a wild week for you. Congrats on the horse, it's adorable. Sorry about the turkey chick and the bad cat.. I agree with dreading the start of school ~ Yuck! Bee stings suck.. my flower beds are doing horrible this year and Ewww to the cantalope! Yeaaa to the cookies : )
Have a great new week!
Congratulations on the horse Jemm! this is so exciting! I hope we get to see a photo of you in the saddle. If I were there with you and your girls I'd eat a cookie, maybe two, okay three. Hugs from Maine, Julie.
This is one long hot summer! I feel for you. Your lovely collage photos almost make me want to go back to D.C. I think Monticello was my favorite back in the day.
I like honesty! And I like horses! I'm sorry about your chick. I hear you with both my ears about those darn cookies. Hugs to you and the rest of summer!
NUMBER 7....is me all over!!!! I have had a hard time trying to keep a happy face with all this heat, and the whole figure, and sweating thing...totally get you! Sorry about your poor chick. :-( Hope you enjoy your new horse!
Come to Oregon, we're still waiting for summer to officially arrive. I hate the heat right along with you. Yeah! A horse! How much fun is that? Enjoy your last few weeks with your girls before it's back to the school schedule.
