One of the best things about summer for us are the tomatoes. They are usually abundant and despite the hot, dry summer we've had, this year was no different. We've got so many we're going to make homemade spaghetti sauce and freeze it as well as tomato jam. This weekend I made a marinated tomato salad with our plentiful cherry tomatoes. We have all kinds of cherry varieties: Chocolate Cherry, Super Sweet 100's, Sun Sugar and Ilde, just to name the ones I can remember. We have 16 tomato plants in all, most are standard sized tomatoes and heirloom varieties. They are my husband's pride and joy.
If you find yourself with more than enough cherry tomatoes, try this recipe. It's simple and goes together easy, not to mention delicious. I found the recipe at allrecipes.com.
Marinated Cherry Tomato Salad
4 c. halved cherry tomatoes
1/4 c. veg. oil
3 T. cider vinegar
1 t. dried parsley
1 t. dried basil
1 t. dried oregano
1/2 t. salt
1 1/2 t. sugar
In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix all but tomatoes. Pour over tomatoes in a serving dish and stir gently to coat. Chill for at least 2 hours.
P.S. Is anyone having problems with comments? I will get comments in my email inbox but they won't show up on my blog comment count. Has been happening over the last couple posts.

Looks yummy! I can't believe you grow all those varieties! We've only picked a few so far. Thanks for your sweet comment, I was having a tough morning and your words picked me right up!
My tomatoes got to hot. So, I shall tear them out. And I will be sad...But we did gt some nice ones befoe the heat/dry weather got them!
Oh girl, thanks for the recipe!! We have a ton of cherry tomatos. I am making this to have with dinner tomorrow!!!
Yum! That looks delicious!! Nothing better than fresh tomatoes!
You are so right. The word verification is overprotection. It's for worry-warts. A little blog like mine is not going to attract the spammers. Besides, I only allow comments from registered users, and most spammers want to be anonymous. So I think I have plenty of protection built in, without having to torture my readers with word verification. :-)
Wondering if you know anything about this?
