Sweet Failure

I had to make a couple of pies for our church bazaar and soup supper Saturday. This is the before picture...I forgot to take an after photo.

It's really too bad because it was really beautiful. To look at. It was a soupy mess under it's beautifully browned, crusty crumble top. It was a crumb topped apple pie. A new recipe (that'll teach me).

So...the church ladies probably won't ask me for pies anymore! Oh well, I will keep trying! I don't think I will hear any complaints from my husband.

Feel free to share your pie baking secrets here. I need them. Please?

Well I think it looks beautiful! I definitely need more practice on pies too, especially the pie crust. I'm sure your family will love it if you keep practicing :)

It does look yummy though.. sorry it flopped, that's certainly no fun to take something like that to the church.

You are asking the wrong person with me. Ths sounds like some of my adventures with cooling. At least it LOOKS good, Jemm. You get an A for that. Ever consider being a food stylist? :-)

It looks delicious in the picture! What kind of apples did you use? My guess is that you used a variety that turned mushy when baked. Don't give up. Try again using different apples. :-)
